‘MUSIC MONDAYS’ Free Songwriting Course at Bulwell Riverside

 INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS

You may love music, enjoy singing, have always wanted to write and perform your own song or try playing a musical instrument. Our friendly team of local professional musicians and music recording experts are here to help you. They will set up the recording equipment and bring musical instruments to the sessions for you to try.

Don’t worry if you haven’t had any musical or singing experience, as our team can still help you express your ideas to create music, lyrics and record your song. To enroll, please complete a registration form available via the surgery to arrange your session times. The ‘Music Mondays’ sessions will take place during the day in a private room.

The sessions can last up to 2 hours and we allow for 3 sessions, 1 per week to finish your song. That means that you should set aside three Mondays in a row. Your sessions will take place at the same time each week, either 9.00am, 11.30am or 2.00pm. A small financial contribution to your travel expenses may be available, please enquire when you start the course.

Besides the registration form, we will ask you to complete some short questionnaires during the course. This information will help us to provide you with the most beneficial experience possible. We will not share this information or the song you write with anyone else unless you give permission. We may contact you to discuss your songwriting journey, inform you of any changes or remind you of your session times.

Your guide throughout the course will be Kate, a professional musician and music therapist. She will be with you at all times during every session and is specially trained in wellbeing, ensuring that you are safe and enjoying your songwriting experience.

Kate can also suggest other ways of helping you get the most from the course. These include mindfulness activities such as meditation, which could also benefit your everyday life. At times, Kate will be assisted by Tony, a professional musician and recording engineer.

At the end of the course, you will be given a professionally-produced version of your song. We will also advise you on what might happen next should you wish to publicly share your song on social media, and suggest pathways to learning to play a musical instrument or further activities that you may enjoy.

Session cancellations: If you miss one of your sessions you might not be able to complete your song. Please try to provide as much notice as possible if you cannot attend a session or wish to rearrange. Ideally 48 hours notice is required, given either to the surgery or at anytime to the Songwriting Team using the contact details below.
